Able Community Care has provided Live-In Care in Norfolk for over 44 years.
The company was formed in Norfolk in 1980, and one of our first clients was an older couple who, unless they could find 24-hour home care support, would need to leave their home on Unthank Road in Norwich. They had lived in their bungalow for many years, and they and their family wanted to find a solution to enable them to stay in their home rather than having to face a move to a residential care setting. The launch of our Live-in Home Care Service coincided with their problem, and we were able to provide the support they needed.
Many homes in Norfolk are away from public transport routes so travel can be problematic. Local carers, carers with transport, clients who have their own vehicles, and our knowledge of bus and train routes all help us to plan to ensure that once we provide live-in carers to our Norfolk clients, our reliability record is 100%.
In 2004, we were asked to provide a continuous Care Package for Vivienne. Vivienne has Parkinson’s and was living just outside Norwich in a village that she enjoyed. It was a village where she had friends and was well served by local shops and transport. The idea of moving to a care home did not appeal, and as a result, Vivienne decided to try using the support of live-in carers.
Able Community Care has provided Vivienne with a continuous, live-in care package for the last Fifteen years. Her regular rotational carers, working on a fortnightly changeover basis, are known to her, and they have supported Vivienne with the help of other care professionals as her disease has progressed.
Norfolk, being a rural County, has an abundance of farm shops, accessible restaurants, local grocers, butchers, and other services. These may not be accessible to an older person, but with the support of our live-in carers, ‘Shop Local’, days out including some of the best markets in the County, visiting friends, afternoon teas, and attending church or chapel are all possible in addition to the personal and domestic care support provided.
In addition to providing our Live-in Care services around the County, we can also provide Home from Hospital Care, Respite Care and Holiday Care accompanying Norfolk people who need care on holidays of their choice, if this is in Norfolk itself or further afield.
