The Cost of 24/7 Domiciliary Care in 2021
Asking an older person if, should they need care support, whether they would like it to be offered in a residential care setting or in their own home, usually the answer is ‘in my own home’.
For older people with high dependency care needs, this can mean that they need to have that support available over a 24-hour period.
Care providers offering 24-hour care support fall broadly into two categories of supply:
Each hour charged out at an hourly rate*
Live-in care which is costed over a week’s care support.
Able Community Care was established in 1980 and is a Live-in care provider. Our care support is available throughout mainland UK and the Channel Islands and is costed on a weekly basis.
When asking for a quote for weekly care support, we explain the breakdown of the total cost for the individual care package being sought. This will include:
Care workers wage
Agency fee plus Vat
Travel and food cost
On average for clients of Able Community Care living in mainland UK, the cost is between £800-950 per week
*UKHCA’s recommendation for the cost of an hours care from April 2021 is £21.43 per hour.
